Digigram to offer Fraunhofer AAC codec implementation

18.09.2008

The company licensed Fraunhofer IIS AAC Audio Codec and all its variations in order to accommodate the various needs and priorities of its customers and partners (E.g. low delay, low bandwidth usage, audio quality, resilience to packet loss or a mix of several of these features, either in stereo or multichannel). This includes MPEG-4 AAC, MPEG-4 AAC-LD, MPEG-4 HE-AACv2, MPEG-4 AAC-ELD.

Digigram was already meeting the mandatory requirements of the N/ACIP (EBU Tech 3326) for IP Audio. With these additional codecs, Digigram not only matches all N/ACIP recommendations, but adds to the list highly valuable optional codecs such as AAC-LD, and even more AAC-ELD, a perfect match for IP Audio remote contributions thanks to its low-latency, low bandwidth performances.

Digigram will be able to offer cross-platform implementations of the various AAC Audio Codecs, from Windows™ or Linux PC based IP Audio software codecs to embedded system like the company’s recently launched range of IP Audio hardware codecs, namely the IQOYA *LINK and IQOYA *CALL.

The AAC Audio Codec becomes also immediately available as part of Visiblu, Digigram’s Network Audio Operating System (N.A.O.S) used by its partners for developing solutions with audio and data routing, encoding and processing across Wide Area Networks. Visiblu-enabled radio automation systems can now take advantage of the new codecs for audio contribution or distribution applications.

“Our partners and customers expect a state-of-the-art blend of performance and audio quality from Digigram” says Philippe Delacroix, Digigram President & CEO “To meet and surpass their expectations, offering the most advanced set of audio codecs from Fraunhofer throughout our entire range was the way to go. We’re confident that our partners will appreciate this decision”, Delacroix continued.

“As we know Digigram’s outstanding audio products for many years, we are happy to enter into this partnership, providing them with our various AAC flavoured audio encoding and decoding tools”, says Harald Popp, head of the Multimedia Realtime Systems department at Fraunhofer IIS “This is definitely a major step forward to professional solutions for high-quality audio connections over IP networks.“

Digigram, a world leader in PC audio interfaces and innovative networked audio devices is pleased to announce its recent partnership with Fraunhofer IIS.
