IBC 2006 sees the launch of Morpheus Gateway, a significant addition to the Pro-Bel product family that can be used either as a plug-in to existing Morpheus Automation systems, or fully standalone.
Morpheus Gateway provides an effortless solution to a common problem in modern broadcast environments: the handling of third party file-based content in an automation and playout arena.
“This has been an issue for some time now,” says Dave Collins, Pro-Bel’s Chief Engineer, continuing, “If, as is frequently the case, our customers are creating content in a third party system - or someone else is doing it for them - they don’t want to have to re-encode it into the appropriate format before it can be recognised and imported into Morpheus.”
With Morpheus Gateway, all customers have to do is save their file in the format they prefer and then transfer it to a watch folder, which Morpheus Gateway monitors. As soon as new content arrives, Gateway automatically imports the metadata so that Morpheus Automation becomes aware of the content. It is then made available to the system for whatever purpose play-to-air, archive and so on.
Furthermore, Morpheus Gateway is fully integrated with Telestream’s FlipFactory in order to facilitate the automatic conversion of file formats for mixed-server type infrastructures. Gateway is MXF-compliant and automatically extracts metadata from MXF-based content.
Adrian Scott, Pro-Bel’s Chief Marketing Officer, comments: “We live in an increasingly file-based world and with that come new challenges and new opportunities. Morpheus Gateway is an important element in Pro-Bel’s rapidly developing ability to provide efficient and cost-effective solutions that enhance the business of customers operating in a converged environment.”
